The site http://www.education.com/reference/article/Ref_Impact_Video_Games/ is about how videogames cause kids to become more violent. The author wrote this article to keep parents aware the harm videogames can cause to their children. Also the author works for a non-profitable health organization so the goal is to make sure kids don’t get violent due to videogames.
The author’s viewpoint on videogames is it’s bad for kids and can influence them to get violent. Most of the article is about how tests have showed that people playing violent games become more violent. Examples the author used on this are kids that play violent games tend to be more aggressive, prone to confrontation with teachers, may engages fights, and also have a decline in academics. The other part of the article is about how to prevent this by setting a time limit on how long a child can play.
The site is reliable for research since it is a scholarly source whoever the article is not. All the information and statistics used are tests from 2004 which is eight years ago. A lot of kids in our school also play violent videogames but very few of them became violent. Out of five of my friends who play violent videogames only one acts moderately aggressive. Also he was probably not even influenced by videogames but the other things he plays with such as airsoft guns or actual weapons. Videogames don’t influence many people today but instead it’s just another thing in our lives.
